Galle CC humble mighty NCC

Galle CC Medium pacers Lasith Malinga (4/21) and Nuwan Kulasekera (2/17) ripped through the NCC batting line up to bowl them out for 73 runs and force them to follow on in a Premier league division one game at Maitland Place yesterday.

The NCC team which included Sri Lanka test captain Hashan Tilakaratne, Kumar Sangakkara and Upul Chandana had no answer to the medium pace bowling of Kulasekera and Malinga as they tore through the defences of the NCC batsmen after the visitors put upan imposing 400 runs in their first innings.

nly two NCC batsmen Mahesh Perera and Akalanka Ganegama entered double figures as wickets tumbled. Former Sri Lanka skipper Sanath Jayasuriya tuned up for next month’s England tour with his second century in three weeks as Bloomfield hit up 330 for 7 wickets in reply to CCC's total of 238 all out. Jayasuriya who reached his century in 123 balls hit 13 boundaries and a six before being caught at gully by Anushka Polonowita for 129.
