Biggest Sinhala-Tamil cultural festival
One of the biggest ever Sinhala-Tamil cultural festivals to bring about amity between the two communities will be held on October 29 & 30 from 9.am to 8 p.m. at the New Town hall in Colombo. Hundreds of well-known figures in music, song and dance, cinema and drama, literature and poetry, painting, sculpture and other fields are to take part.

The organizers including multi racial, multi religious social action groups and trade unions said some 150 artistes from the north were coming for the cultural festival with an equal number from the south and the hill country. Besides the cultural gems from both communities there will also be dialogues and talks with the climax being the screening of a film produced in Jaffna.

Among those taking part will be Thilina Weerasinghe, Jayathilaka Bandara, Prof. Sunil Wijesiriwardene, Asoka Handagama, Prof. K. Sivathamby, Anura K.Edirisuriya, Dharmsiri Bandaranayake, K. Thevanandange., Prof. Sucharitha Gamlath, Prof. N.Shanmugalingam, Kamalanie Selvarajan, Prasanna Vithanage, .Yesurasa, S. Pathmanathan, Ajith Samaranayaka, K.M.Sanmugalingam, Kaushalya Fernando, Prof. K.Sithambaranathan, C.Nesakumarage and Bala Sugumar.
