Fashion

Saree fashions were the highlight of the Bloemendhal Development Society's coffee morning "Towards a Better Tomorrow" held at the Galadari Hotel on Sept. 10.

Zonta Club 11 of Colombo and Rithihi are presenting a sale of exquisite sarees from the different states in India as a fund raiser for a worthy cause on September 27 and 28.
Rithihi, the exclusive saree boutique, have joined hands with Zonta to put this sale together as the initial fund raiser towards Zonta Club 11’s main project for this year which is the up-grading of the CMC Kirula Road maternity home and day care centre.
Built in the 1930s, the centre is in need of much upgrading. Originally catering for 60 to 75 out door patients the day care centre now cares for over 300 mothers and infants. Rithihi-is the brain child of two ladies Geetha and Vali who source their collection of sarees from all over India, reaching out to the women weavers in varying states.
The sale will feature hand picked sarees from pure silks to pure cotton and mixed fabrics and will be held at Rithihi, 19 Alfred House Gardens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From books to fashion it was when Donnastar, the fashion division of M.D. Gunasena's was launched at their main bookstore at Olcott Mawatha,
Colombo 11.
