COPEDEC conference in SL

The Sixth International Conference on Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (COPEDEC VI) will be held at the BMICH in Colombo from September 15 to 19 under the theme "Engineering the Coastal Environment".

The main objective of the meeting is to provide an international forum where coastal and port engineers from developing countries can exchange know-how and experience amongst themselves and with their colleagues from developed countries.

The first conference was held in Sri Lanka in 1983 and COPEDEC is returning to Sri Lanka after 20 years following the peaceful atmosphere in this country.

The Lanka Hydraulic Institute is the local host and chief sponsor of COPEDEC VI.

The main bilateral co-sponsor is the Ministry of the Flemish Community of Belgium, represented at COPEDEC by Flanders Hydraulics.
