Another
triumph for Beyonce Joel, 53, was
reported to be in a stable condition after being airlifted to Stony
Brook University Hospital from East Hampton Airport in Long Island. Reports suggest
that Billy Joel was driving his Mercedes Benz car when it swerved
off the road and hit a tree. No further
details about the accident are available. In 1999, Billy
Joel was involved in a motorcycle accident and had to be hospitalised.
R'Kelly is
in deep trouble over new allegations that he had sex with an under-age
girl. He was charged and released on bail last week. Meanwhile,
the R-n-B singer will call to his defence the award winning film
director, Joe Pytka, to prove that footage of him having sex with
an under-age girl was digitally altered. Pytka was behind
the movie Space Jam where animated sequences were a part of the
film. Kelly, in other words, is trying to prove how tapes can be
doctored. Kelly has been
very critical of the legal authorities in Polk Country for filing
charges. As he prepares
to face 21 counts of child pornography charges in a Chicago court,
Kelly faced new charges of having naked images of under- age girls
in his digital camera which included one of him engaging in a sex
act. R. Kelly's
career has been clouded by the scandal from almost the time he became
a big time star. At one time it was widely believed that Kelly had
married the late Aaliyah on the sly when she was barely 15 years
old. If all the
allegations against him are proved, R. Kelly's music career will
be over as he will have to spend a very long time in prison. David Sneddon's
Stop Living The Lie, the Fame Academy's winning song continues to
occupy the No. 1 spot on the UK Chart for a second consecutive week.
The ballad is likely to be knocked out of the top next week. The highest
new entry of the week was at No. 2. Taking centrestage on credit
is Jay-Z. Featured on the song is Beyonce Knowles of Destiny's Child
fame. The song, 03 Bonnie & Clyde gives Jay-Z his second big
hit song in the UK. His release, Hard Knock Life peaked at No. 3
in 1998. For Beyonce
Knowles 03 Bonnie & Clyde is her biggest credited hit following
the Austin Powers movie spawned track Work It Out which peaked at
No. 7 in July 2002. The rap track
is combined with the 1987 Prince hit If I Was Your Girlfriend as
Beyonce does the vocals to the song. So far, the
verdict is that her fellow Destiny's Child star - Kelly Rowland's
appearance on Nelly's Dilemma is by far a better song. The club track,
The Opera Song (Brave New World) by Jurgen Vries featuring CMC entered
the UK chart at No. 3. There has been
some interest in The Opera Song as the mysterious vocalist - CMC
- is the 16-year-old Charlotte Church. The young Welsh operatic
singer has been in the news recently following her rebellious attitude.
Church is generally
an album artiste going to the nature of music she records. But The
Opera Song takes the diva into the mainstream of pop. For Jurgen
Vries, The Opera Song is the second top 20 UK hit following The
Theme which peaked at No. 13 in September last year. A collection
of forgotten pictures of the Beatles will go on exhibition in Liverpool
in the spring. The collection
which is believed to be worth over £1.4 million was shot by
Tom Murray, a British photographer on July 28, 1968. The Beatles
were in London for a Mad Day Out while recording the White Album.
This was the last time John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr
and George Harrison would be photographed officially as the Beatles. Tom Murray
was one of six photographers at the shoot. He kept 23 negatives
from five film rolls in one of his drawers at home for 25 years.
The exhibition will be held from April 24 - May 18 at the Liverpool Matthen Street Gallery, close to the original Cavern Club. UK Top 20 |
