Shehara back on silver screen
Popular actress Shehara Jayaweera is our cover girl this week. Shehara was a popular choice in the Sinhala screen few years ago and suddenly disappeared from the scene.

'I was busy involved with my family and baby. I was out of film scene for about three years because of my little baby. Now he is little big and I am ready to come back to the scene. I have started work with a new film." she said.

Shehara plays the main role opposite Ranjan Ramanayake in 'Mohothin Mohotha' (Moment to Moment), which was released in November 1998.

That was Shehara's second film and her first film 'Balakamaya' was released last year. She played the lead role in 'Thisaravi', which released in 2000 was popular theme film.

'Balakamaya' is directed by Louis Vanderstratan was my very first film, which was completed last year. However, Sunil Soma Peiris' 'Mohathin Mohotha' will be released before this movie' she said.

She shot to the fame overnight after the movie 'Mohathin Mohotha' .She also acted in Dharmasiri Wickremasinghe's 'Seetha Reya'

Before she took the break for her family commitments, Shehar tried her luck in teledramastoo her most popular one is 'Ran Masu Del', telecast over Rupavahini.

Twenty-nine year old Shehara was a past student of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Nugegoda, and never had any intention to becoming an actress.

"When I was schooling I had a liking to act in films but soon it faded away. I wanted to become a designer and I never had a chance to step into that field. However I would not continue as a film actress. I want to be in films for few years and will settle down with my family. Now I am keen on working with few teledramas." she said.

So, now she is back in the scene and soon will be seen on the silver screen.

Sala Hotel : From old tile factory to modern hotel

Tourism is booming in Sri Lanka and more and more tourists from all corners of the world have started coming in to Sri Lanka.

To accommodate these influx many new hotels, guest houses and resorts have come up all over the island.

The very latest is Sala Factory Hotel in Salawa, Kosgama. In Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya , an old tea factory has turned to a posh hotel and it is one of the top attractions in little England.

In Salawa too, this old tile factory has turned into a hotel and it is called Sala factory Hotel.

'Sala Factory Hotel' is just two Months old and already a popular stopover place for Sri Lankan visitors on Colombo-Avissawella road.

Rohan de Silva an experienced hotelier is the director operations of this new place and he is very keen in promoting this beautiful six roomed hotel
among Sri Lankan as well as foreign travellers.

"I think this will be more attracted to overseas visitors. 'The Kiln' (Poranuwa) and surrounding buildings have been turned to the restaurant.

The real poranuwa area is the main bar. This is a unique concept and I think we can hit the high note, Rohan said.

The Klin is converted into the the restaurant bar and the outside is the open air restaurant with wooden furnitute to blend with the concept.

This restaurant can be accommodated 60 pax. The other building belonging to the tile factory has been converted to the big reception hall. The reception hall could accommodate 500 pax per sitting and the price is ranges from Rs.225/- to Rs. 500.

"We have six standard rooms with one room with A/C. We want to upgrade the rest. It will be attended in due course. At the moment we are promoting wedding packages and we are doing well in that area" Rohan said.

At the moment Sala Factory Hotel offers daily buffet during lunch time and breakfast and dinner on request.

'Actually we want get the popularity among Lankan and foreign visitors by giving them courteous and clean service, tasty food and healthy environment." Rohan said.

Sala Factory Hotel also could be used as centre spot for excursions.

Famous Kapugoda Thotupala, Ran Mudu Ella, Lenewera Raja Maha Viharaya and Puwakpitiya Ayurvedha Forest are some of the popular attractions within a very short drive.

The Director Operations , Rohan de Silva is an experienced hotelier with HCIMA and CHSGA( Hotel School) qualifications. He was at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dubai , Kurumba Village in Maldives as the senior housekeeping manager. Also he worked at Emerald Bay Hotel as the Manager.
