C & C Duo at BMICH

Chandani and Chaminda, popularly known as C & C Duo, will come alive at the BMICH on September 28.

This is their second concert and the duo is planning to have it on a grand style.
This year they will have the support of some of the top names in the music scene at their concert.

The Chandani & Chaminda duo, which has been jointly in the entertainment scene, for over a year has enlarged into a quartet - a musical blend. Chandani Hettiarachchi as the lead vocalist, has over two decades of stage experience, is quite professional and versatile in her rendering of lyrics in numerous dialects.

Chaminda her partner in life, is the keyboardist, who is talented and very innovative. Both of them have been acclaimed and appreciated by the local and foreign audiences for their presentations of eastern and western music.

As for the others in this quartet, there is Sudath Mannaperuma playing guitar, Jagath Somasundara on percussion. Also there are Janath Kulatilleke along with Dilrukshi Galappaththi and Dharshi de Mel two female vocalists accompanying Chandani, but singing in contrast, specially for the concert.

The concert will be held at the BMICH on September 28 and is billed to commence at 7.30 p.m. Adding variety, flavour and gusto would be Sunil of the Gypsies, Sohan and Mariazelle as guest stars and most of the veteran and popular entertainers in the local scene. The concert is to be compered by Faizal Bongso. Also a new CD cut specially to coincide with this concert, will be available for sale at the gate. This CD will contain some popular songs and entirely new lyrics rendered by this new talented team.

Festival of Kites
Galle Face Green is going to be the venue once again for the National Festival of Kites on Sunday September 15, (today) starting at 1.00 p.m.

The Sri Lanka Tourist Board and the Lions Club of Moratuwa have got together to organize this fun-filled event, this time primarily focusing on the participation of school children through their respective schools.

The competition which is open to all kite flyers is in four categories. Largest Kite, Most Creative Kite, Kite depicting the best publicity for sponsor Dyno Park and Best Kite by a School.

There will be first, second and third prizes in each category. Every contestant will be awarded a certificate of participation.

Local participation is expected to be very good. Since this is a National Festival, it has attracted a large number of participants who will display their creative skills and ability and get their entries air borne as they vie for the attractive prizes on offer.

Visitors to Galle Face Green on Sunday afternoon are assured of excellent family entertainment.

The sky will be dotted with colourful kites of all sizes and colours, the Army band will be in attendance providing delightful music, while plenty of food and beverages will be available on the Green which would project the atmosphere of a Fiesta and Carnival.


'Victories Night'
'Victories Night II' a musical extravaganza, organised by Our Lady of Victories Convent, Moratuwa will be held at the Buddhist Hall Moratuwa on September 26.

RajivSebastian, Saman de Silva, Nirosha Virajini, Champa Kalhari, Senanayake Weraliyadda, Shanika Wanigasekera and Bathiya, Santush, will be featured at this show.

'Saman and the Clan' will provide the music, while popular dancers will add the glamour to the show. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1000/=, 500/=, and Rs. 200/= now available at the Convent Office.
