Mobile phone giant has developed a flexible smartphone prototype, which could change the way we interact with technology.

The world's biggest technology manufacturer said that Youm, the brand it has used for its flexible display technology since June, was a prototype that was not going to launch imminently. Samsung's continued emphasis on the technology will worry its rivals, however, and indicates that the Korean company is continuing both to work on new display technologies and to reduce its reliance on Google Android. It pointedly demonstrated the phone running Windows Phone 8.

Google chief Eric Schmidt and the former governor of New Mexico have been lobbying North Korean officials about missile launches, internet freedom and a US detainee held in the country during their "private, humanitarian trip."

Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson said on Wednesday that his delegation is pressing North Korea to put a moratorium on missile launches and nuclear tests and to allow more cell phones and an open internet for its citizens.

He told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview in Pyongyang that the group is also asking for fair and humane treatment for an American citizen detained in North Korea.

The US Federal Trade Commission unanimously concludes that there isn't enough evidence to support complaints that Google unfairly favours its own services in search results.
