No permission has been granted to increase prices of cement, although cement companies have increased prices, the Consumer Affairs Authority announced yesterday.
Although the cement companies have requested a price hike due to increased world market prices, the National News Agency quoted the Sri Lanka's Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) as saying it had not approved a price hike.
Accordingly the maximum price of a 50-kg bag of cement is still Rs.855 as fixed in May this year.
