Stolen artifacts from the museum recovered; 3 suspects apprehended

The Police recovered several  artifacts which were had been burgled from the Colombo National Museum,  in the Piliyandala area.

Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana speaking to local media said that   following a tip off three suspects were apprehended yesterday (August 20) along with the stolen items which included the hilt of a sword, its parts and a ring with gems removed from it.

Two women reported to be residents of Gonaawala in Kelaniya are among the arrested suspects while the third suspect is a three-wheeler driver from the Maaligaawatta area.

 SSP Ajith Rohan said investigations  are still underway as a another suspect was still to be apprehended.
