Eighty three (83) persons bound for Australia in two multi-day trawlers were arrested by Navy off Trincomalee on Monday (20).
According to Navy, the arrested persons are residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Trincomalee, Muttur, Kochchikade, Batticaloa, Habarana, Bulathsinhale, Balangoda, Kalpitiya, Padavi Sri-pura and Mannar.
Among the arrested were two women and four children. They were brought to Trincomalee Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
