Fast bowlers Sohail Tanvir and Saeed Ajmal steered Kandurata Warriors to a resounding 42-run win against Ruhuna Royals in a SLPL match played at Pallekele today (20).
Tanvir and Ajmal took three wickets each to bowl out Ruhuna at 100 runs, while chasing 143 for victory.
Tanvir impressed with figures of 3 for 4 in 3.2 overs while Ajmal finished his quota of overs to claim 3 for 23 despite fighting knocks from Shahid Afridi and Lahiru Thirimanne.
Afridi made 36 off 16 balls inclusive of a boundary and four sixes while Thirimanne made 23 in 22 balls inclusive of three boundaries to help Ruhuna give some ray of hope in their run chase.
Electing to bat first, Kandurata made 142 runs with Jeewantha Kulatunga and Kithuruwan Vithanage hitting identical knocks of 31 apiece.
Dilruwan Perera claimed 3 for 21 while debutant fast bowler Imran Khan impressed with figures of 2 for 33.
