Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today called on his party organizers to rally the public to campaign for the maintenance of the law and order in the country.
Mr Wickremesinghe addressing party organizers at Sirikotha said that the government has failed to reduce the cases of child abuse and it appears that the President Mahinda Rajapaksa government has no intention of reducing such crime.
“At the rate its going UPFA politicians may even have clubs and organizations for those involved in child abuse”, he said.
He said children cannot walk freely on the roads as they are vulnerable to be abused and those very often arrested for rape are local government politicians. He said Tangalle has happened to be a main area where crime against women are committed.
If the Independent Police and Public Services Commissions were functioning there is a good opportunity to take action against those who commit such crime.
