Sri Lanka's stocks closed flat Monday with index heavy blue chip stocks gaining ground analysts said.
Strong buying emerged in the market with blue chips leading from the front following the positive company results that has been released so far, they added.
Buying interest seems to be stepping into the market, but mostly on rumours rather than value, a stock broker said.
John Keels Holdings (JKH) topped the turnover list with Rs. 49 million while foreign participation accounted for 15% of the day’s turnover.
Colombo bourse gained momentum with activity levels surging to keep the market alive. The share volume recorded for the day was 27 .9 million, a stock broker said. Turnover was Rs.288.2 million.
The Colombo All Share Price Index closed at 4,935.51, up by 2.42 points and the S&P20 Index of large cap stocks fell 5.76 points to close at 2,776.74. The Milanka Price Index gained 22.15 points to close at 4,376.71.(Bandula)
