Colombo shares on Tuesday was down despite the Securities and Exchange Commission relaxing its rules on stockbroker credit yesterday analysts said, adding that low investor sentiment prevailed throughout the day.
Most active counters for the day were Laufgs Gas non-voting and voting followed by Capital Alliance Finance. Notable gainers for the day were Browns Beach Hotel up by 9.16% to close at Rs. 14.30, York Arcade up by 8.00% to close at Rs. 13.50 and Free Lanka Capital Holdings up by 5.88% to close at Rs. 1.80. Meanwhile, notable losers for the day were Citizens Development Bank down by 7.35% to close at Rs. 31.50, Kelani Valley Plantations down by 5.88% to close at Rs. 80.
Aitken Spence Plc was down by Rs 3.80 to Rs 111, John Keells Holdings was down by Rs 1.70 to Rs 178.20 and Distilleries Corporation fell Rs1.10 to Rs 125.
The All Share Index was down by 27.07 points or 0.55% to settle at 4,853.03 while the liquid Milanka was down by 23.19 or 0.54% to end at 4,285.62. The S&P index lost 19.32 points or 0.70% to close at 2,755.77. The turnover was at Rs 225 million with more than 5, 000 trades being executed. (DEC)
