The country’s leading political parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) have not received any foreign funding while the UNP has received only Rs49, 000 during the period 2010 to2012, Parliament was told today.
These details are contained in a document tabled in Parliament in response to a question raised by UPFA Shantha Bandara on which political parties obtain foreign funds.
Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena said the details are contained in the accounts submitted by the Elections Department.
Asked if the political parties that receive foreign funds are ministered, Minister Gunawardena said no such monitoring is done.
