A British national were among eight persons involved in treasure hunting in the Rattota area, Police said today.
Two women were also among those arrested.
The British national aged 65 residing in Dehiwala while the rest were from Wellamapitiya Gothatuwa and Norwood.
The vehicle they used and the tools used were also taken to custody.
They are to be produced before the Matale magistrate today.
