Sri Lankan government has had discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for fresh financial assistance, which will be discussed in detail in September, IMF officials said.

"There's a possibility of (IMF) extending further financial assistance - similar to the current Stand-By Arrangement facility in operation now. We had discussions with the government in this regard and we'll continue these discussions," Dr. John Nelmes, IMF Head of Mission to Sri Lanka told reporters on Friday (June 15) at the conclusion of the eighth IMF Staff Mission to Sri Lanka. Captured here are highlights from the IMF press briefing.
