Guide to Vote - Parliamentary Election 2010

 

 

Select the Political party or independent group of  your choice from the upper portion of the ballot paper and  vote by placing mark ‘X’ in the blank square against the election symbol.

You can mark the vote only for one political party or one independent group. If the vote is marked for more than one party the ballot paper will be invalid.

You can mark three preferences for three candidates. To mark the preferences you can place the mark ‘X’ on the serial number of the respective candidate which is given in the lower section of the ballot paper.

Preferences can be given to only to three candidates. If the voter wishes she/he can mark on the number of one candidate. If the preferences are marked for more than three candidates all the preferences are invalid.

TYPES OF IDENTITY CARDS ACCEPTED AT POLLING BOOTHS

National Identity card

Valid Passport

Valid Driving License

Govt Pensioner’s card

Elders Identity Card

Identity Card issued to Clergy by the Department of Registration of Persons

Temporary Identity card issued through the Department of Elections for the last provincial council elections except the ID cards issued for the Eastern Provincial council elections.

NOTE: One of the above identity cards are required for voting and no other identity cards will be accepted.
