SLFP (M) leader Mangala Samaraweera will lodge a complaint with the Election’s Commissioner regarding the Rs1000 currency note that was released by the Central Bank this week bearing the picture of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“The release of this note close to an election tantamounts to election campaigning via a currency note and we will protest against it,” Mr. Samaraweera told reporters this morning.
He added that pictures of living leaders have never been used on currency notes in the country before and said it is “undemocratic.”‘.
