General: St. Thomas' College Matale holds Colours Night

Tilina P. Welagedara was crowned as the most outstanding sportsman of the year 2015 for his excellent performance in hockey, at the 'Colours Night of St. Thomas' College Matale held at the Charles Robinson Memorial Hall of the school.   150 young Thomians were awarded colours and certificates of excellence at the glittering ceremony.   A distinguished old Thomian of the A.J. Wijesinghe era, and the current Hon: Secretary of Matale Old Thomians Hockey Association, Eric Hulangamuwa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.   Showing an amazing versatility in hockey, Eric Hulangamuwa captained the college senior hockey team, Matale Schools, Sri Lanka Youth and Sri Lanka Schools Hockey team in 1978 and 1979.   The guest of honour for the occasion was another distinguished Matale Old Thomian Col. C.K.B. Ekanayake, the 661 Brigade Commander of Sri Lanka Army.   'Rising Sun' is the highest award and there were fifteen recipients for this most prestigious accolade.   'Rising Sun' award Winners Scouting: R.W. Hearath Cricket: R.A.J. Yapa Hockey: T.S.B. Wijayatunga Athletics: J.H.N.D. Jayamaha Cadetting: R.S.M. Kaduwela W.M.P.B   The following were awarded Colours. Tennis: H.J.B.
