Holy Father's schedule for day one concludes

13 January 2015 - 32   - 0

After a tedious journey from the Vatican City to Colombo and a series of meetings that followed after, the Holy Father's schedule for today concluded a short while ago. At a media briefing Rev. Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See Press Office stated that the day’s proceedings were a huge success and that the Holy Father was very well pleased with his trip to Sri Lanka. “The Pope’s visit to the island is a blessing to the land and it certainly was a blessing to the crowds who were present today. The welcome ceremony at the airport was truly an impressive one,” Rev. Lombardi said. He added “The Holy father was impressed with the crowds that gathered to greet him all through the 28 kilometer journey from the Airport to the Apostolic Nunciature.” Rev. Lombardi joked that the Holy Father paid the price for travelling in an open pope mobile in the hot sun. He however added that the Holy Father had rested for a short period at the Apostolic Nunciature and had arrived fully refreshed at  both his meetings with the President and the Inter Religious Leaders.” The canonization service of blessed Joseph Vaz will commence tomorrow at 8.30 am at the Galleface green, Colombo. The Holy Father is due to arrive at the vicinity at 7.45 am.
