Sri Lanka’s top chamber appeals for calm in post-poll period

      Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on Thursday appealed for calm at the end of polling at the presidential election. In a statement, it said the chamber “is pleased to note that the polling of the 7th Presidential election was concluded in a relatively peaceful and a conducive manner”. The chamber appealed to the general public to remain calm and maintain peace during the post election period. “Moving forward, all should respect the verdict of the voter, irrespective of political differences and stand firm with the elected leader to forge ahead and transform Sri Lanka to a developed nation, meeting aspirations of all the people. We remain committed and ready to contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation,” the statement added.
