Colombo shares mixed amidst Sri Lanka votes in the presidential poll

The Colombo stock market didn’t veer to either side of the political fence with mixed results on Thursday on a day when millions of Sri Lanka’s voted at the presidential poll.

The market, with limited trading hours due to the election, ended with turnover on firm ground at Rs. 1.45 billion while the All Share Index gaining marginally by 0.79 per cent to 7,497.60 while the S&P sensitive index rose by 0.89 per cent to 4,185.97.

Trading will resume on Friday when results of the poll in which the nation will decide between incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa and opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena, are known. – Ends -
