The regulation banning face coverings such as the Burka, Nikab, and Full Face helmets will not be in effect, the Police Headquarters said.

The Police said this in a response letter sent to Muslim Affairs Minister M.H.A Hakeem by Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana of the Police Legal Branch.

DIG Rohana noted that these regulations had been imposed under the Emergency Regulations and that such laws will not be in effect since the Emergency Regulations are not in effect anymore.

Women covering their faces had nothing to do with the Easter bombings. Muslim women wear head coverings just like the nuns in the church for religious reasons. Yes, some women through personal preferences decide to cover their faces too. Just like how some women through personal preferences like to expose themselves as much as they like to.
