Nearly 9400 drunk drivers arrested since last month - Police

Nearly 9400 individiuals have been arrrested by today (Aug 19) under a special drunk driving operation launched by the police last month.

Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said that 217 drunk drivers have been nabbed during the past 24 hours alone.

The special exercise had been launched on July 5 for a period of one month before it had been decided to extend the operation throughout the year.
