Around 12,000 graduates will receive job opportunities in the state sector by the end of this month, Parliamentarian S.M. Marikkar said today (Jul 23).

Addressing a news conference, the United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian said that university students who graduated between 2013 and 2018 would be granted employment.

“These opportunities would be granted irrespective of any differences including an individual’s political affiliation,” Mr. Marikkar said. He pointed out that a few job opportunities would be granted to external graduates as well.

Commenting on the upcoming presidential elections, the parliamentarian noted that a young generation which thinks in line with the modern world would be a decisive force at the polls.

“A new generation has emerged. They are not groups which are affiliated with any conventional political party,” he pointed out.

Accordingly, he emphasised that it was important to implement a plan for the future years to come aside from naming a candidate alone for the upcoming presidential polls.
