The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has informed court that there are more suspects to be arrested over the killings of two businessmen in Rathgama earlier this year.

During today’s hearing at the Galle Magistrate’s court, the CID also said that they have objected against the bail applications filed by 15 suspects at the High Court.

So far, 17 suspects have been taken into custody over the killings, with a majority of them attached to the Southern Police Special Crimes Investigation Unit. They were ordered to be remanded until August 5 by Galle Chief Magistrate Harshana Kekunuwela.

The suspects have been accused of abducting and killing businessmen Asela Manjula Kumara and Rasith Chinthaka on January 23.
