Cabinet nod to amend dress code circular

25 June 2019 - 104   - 0

Cabinet approval has been granted to amend the Public Administration Ministry's dress code circular for public sector employees.

Approval was granted following a proposal put forward by Public Administration Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara during today's cabinet meeting.

Accordingly, aside from sari and osari, female state sector employees will be allowed to wear any dress which is deemed acceptable provided that it does not cover the face, a Public Administration Ministry Spokesman said.

Previously, the Ministry had issued a circular stating that the Saree or Osari would be made compulsory for female state sector employees.
