Sri Lanka to sign MoU with Japan to provide employment opportunities for Sri Lankans

Sri Lanka is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan's Labour Ministry to provide Sri Lankans with an opportunities for employment in Japan.

Minister Harin Fernando, in his capacity as the Minister of Foreign Employment will sign the agreement in Japan tomorrow (Jun 18), the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment said.

Employment could be sought under 14 fields including nursing, janitorial services, industrial equipment, electronic and IT, construction, shipping, auto mobile, aircraft, agriculture, fisheries, and food production industries.

Nine countries are expected to received similar benefits.

Following the signing of the MoU, Japanese experts will visit Sri Lanka and conduct training programmes before providing employment.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs Ministry has warned the public to avoid being duped into foreign employment scams which could take place under the guise of being conducted by the government.
