Sri Lankan High Commission in UK hosts reception for national cricket team

The Sri Lankan High Commission in London, recently hosted a reception for the Sri Lankan cricket team in the UK that will participate at the upcoming ICC World Cup in England and Wales.

The reception commenced with the observation of two minutes’ silence in memory of the Easter Sunday terror attack victims.

During the event, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to UK, Manisha Gunasekera, commended Sri Lanka cricket for its unique jersey with the assistance of MAS Holdings, using recycled plastic sea waste from the Sri Lankan coast.

Meanwhile, national skipper Dimuth Karunaratne today presented a bat which was autographed by the national cricket team, to Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland, a highlight of the event, the Sri Lankan High Commission in London said in a press release.

UK dignitaries including Lord Howell of Guildford, Vicky Ford MP and Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Cricket Group, MPs Virendra Sharma and Rehman Chisti, Vice Marshall Neil Holland, High Commissioners and Ambassadors from cricketing nations, and the Mayors of Harrow, Kingston and Havering, graced the occasion with their presence.
