Court suspends newly appointed Director Board of Litro Lanka

The Colombo Commercial High Court today (May 15) issued an interim order on the functioning of the new Director Board of Litro Gas Lanka which was appointed upon the instructions of Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera recently.

The order was issued after considering a petition filed by four individuals including the immediate former Litro Lanka Managing Director Muditha Peiris and three others who were former directors of the company.

The petitioners argued the grounds on which the executive board was appointed upon the instructions of the Finance Minister, as the Finance Secretary did not have powers to make such appointments since the company was not a shareholder of the treasury.

Accordingly, Commercial High Court judge R Gurusinghe instructed the newly appointed Board of Litro Gas Lanka to allow the former Director Board to function without any interruptions until a final verdict is delivered on the case.

The Judge also announced that the case would be taken up for further hearing on May 28 during which the defendants could file objections against the petition.
