Ceylinco General Insurance in collaboration with Chubb Insurance of USA paid an advance of US$1 million to Shangri-La Hotel Colombo on Thursday April 25, just four days after the devastating bomb on Easter Sunday, to commence repairs.

Officials of Ceylinco General Insurance visited Shangri-La within a few hours of Sunday’s incident and got in touch with the hotel management immediately. On Monday, April 22, an initial inspection was carried out and Ceylinco General Insurance in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA, paid the advance to Shangri-La Hotel to help them expedite the repairs.

Further assessments of the extent of damage will be carried out by a loss adjuster appointed by the reinsurer in consultation with Ceylinco General Insurance.  The advance of $1 million was arranged even before finalizing the initial investigation report.  Shangri-La properties in Sri Lanka and the Maldives are insured by Ceylinco Insurance in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA.   - ENDS -
