Nine individuals believed to be involved in assisting Easter attacks arrested in Jaffna

Nine suspects who are believed to have been involved in orchestrating the attacks on Easter Sunday and fled to the North thereafter were arrested from several areas in Jaffna  yesterday  (April 23).

Inititally, Special Task Force (STF) personnel had arrested a suspect at a Bus Stand in Jaffna on the day after the explosions had occured.

During  questioning carried out on the suspect, details relating to several other individuals were uncovered. Accordingly steps were taken to arrest those suspects as well.

Security Forces in Jaffna said that the suspects had arrived in Jaffna after the explosions had taken place. However, the motive of these suspects to head  to the North has not been determined yet, security personnel said.

The suspects along with two other  individuals who were  arrested in Mannar have been detained for questioning after obtaining permission from court.
