President Maithripala Sirisena held a special discussion with foreign envoys and representatives of international agencies at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon.

During the discussion, the Ambassadors and the High Commissioners of all countries had pledged to render their assistance to Sri Lanka in the aftermath of last Sunday's attacks.

President Sirisena had told the foreign delegates that terrorism would be curbed in the country since law enforcement agencies have taken swift measures to apprehend individuals involved in such acts.

He had also emphasised that the state of emergency which was declared yesterday will not be misused against the people.

“We will not allow the emergency regulations gazette last night to be used against the ordinary people. They will be used only against terror suspects and I take that responsibility,” he said.

Further, Mr. Sirisena said the blockage on social media would be lifted by tomorrow if suspicious or terrorism-related incidents are not reported in the country from today onwards.
