19 April 2019 - 194   - 0

Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that there will be no division among opposition parties including the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) with regard to the presidential candidate.

Speaking to the press in Nuwara Eliya today (Apr 19), Mr. Rajapaksa noted that an individual who could muster 51 percent of the votes will be nominated as the presidential candidate.

"The people of this country do not have proper access to water and electricity. The government even failed to provide plantation workers a wage of Rs 1000 before Avurudu," the former President said while reminding the gathering that the time has now come for plantation workers to arrive at a decision due to these moves by the government.

Commenting on the speculated change in the government, Opposition Leader Rajapaksa said that his faction does not have any involvement in such matters. However, he said that conflicting ideas have emerged due to these speculations, within the United National Party (UNP).
