The 39th Battle of the Gold’s big match between traditional rivals St Mary’s Kegalle and Kegalu Vidyalaya played at the Kegalle Esplanade ended in a tame draw on Satuday (30). 

St. Mary’s Kegalle 222 all out (Gajitha Kotuwegoda 102, Sandeepa Weerasinghe 26, Pasan Wijesinghe 32 n.o.: Madushan Gunasinghe 3/72, Punsara Gimhana 2/19) and 140 for 5 declared (Gihan Abeywardena 35, Dushan Karunatileke 30, Akalanka Pethiyagoda 22: Madushan Gunasinghe 3/51)
Kegalu Vidyalaya 123 all out (Lochana Charith 24: Achintha Wickramasinghe 4/20, Sineth Weerasuriya 2/23) and 141 for 3 wickets at close (Sandun Shan 38, Pasindu Dilshan 34, Pulasthi Anuradha 52n.o.: Sineth Weerasuriya 2/37)
