UZ Arts’ Moving Out 2019 on March 23 at Sura Medura Centre in Dodanduwa

UZ Arts presents the work of nine artists from the UK who has been resident at the Sura Medura Centre in Dodanduwa for six weeks. The work is inspired by the people and culture of Sri Lanka and includes performance, music, visual arts and multimedia. The work will then be taken to the UK and some will be presented in festivals, festivals and art centres in Scotland and England. 

Commenting on the current residency Sura Medura Artistic Director Neil Butler was quoted in a statement as saying: “Since the international residency was established over 100 artists have attended Sura Medura creating work inspired by the people and culture of Sri Lanka.This season we continue to explore our theme of collaboration between the artists and with the public. The work has been inspired by those who live in the locality and will take place in the grounds and building of our new residency and the lagoon that surrounds it.”

UZ Arts and Sura Meduara invite the public for a performance and exhibition at Sura Medura which is situated in Dammissara Road in Dodanduwa on Saturday March 23 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Admission for the exhibition is free and a shuttle service will leave from Sunbeach Hotel, 572 Galle Road Hikkaduwa at 4.30 p.m. for the audiences’ convenience. 

At the end of the exhibition the artists and audience will return to Sunbeach Hotel for fellowship and a Rice and Curry Banquet and Party. For dinner reservations and more information on the event please drop an email to neil@uzarts.com.
