Indian national arrested for operating a business in Polonnaruwa without a valid work visa

An Indian national was arrested for operating a business of selling saris in Polonnaruwa after he had arrived in Sri Lanka without a valid work visa.

The arrest was carried out by officials of the Immigration and Emigration Department yesterday (Mar 18).

Investigations revealed that the suspect had arrived in the county via illegal means along with a group of Indian nationals.

Accordingly, a search operation is currently underway to arrest the other suspects.

Police said that the suspect would be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrates Court today.
