No reports of Sri Lankans among Christchurch casualties

So far no reports have recorded any Sri Lankan casualties among the victims in today's Christchurch mosque shooting which claimed the lives of 49 individuals,  a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, said.

Further the statement  said  that taking into considering the safety of Sri Lankans living in New Zealand, the Consular Office in Wellington,  New Zealand as well as the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra, Australia were paying special attention to the situation in order to direct assistance if required. 

Forty-nine people were killed and at least 20 wounded in shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand today (March 15).
A man in his late twenties was charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday morning, New Zealand police confirmed.

One gunman live-streamed footage of his rampage to Facebook, filmed with a head-mounted camera. The footage showed him firing indiscriminately at men, women and children from close range inside the Al-Noor mosque.
