Justice Udul Premaratne has met with the Investigations Officer of the Dubai Police in order to request the release of singers Amal Perera and Nadeemal Perera who were arrested in Dubai on February 05.

The Investigations Officer had informed Justice Premaratne that Nadeemal Perera was tested negative for the consumption of narcotics while the blood report of singer Amal Perera had not been received as of yet.

Justice Udul Premaratne speaking from Dubai said that he had played the songs of his clients which were available on Youtube to the Dubai Police in order to prove that they were professional singers.

He had also requested the Dubai Police to release his clients by stating that they had arrived in Dubai to take part in a musical concert and not to engage in the drug trade.

Justice Premaratne emphasised that it was the Investigations Officer of the Dubai Police who would determine the final course of action concerning the suspects.

Therefore, he said that Sri Lankan lawyers could appear on behalf of the suspect while meeting with the Investigations Officer although a Emirati Lawyer would be required if the suspects were produced before courts.

The date on which the suspects will be produced before courts has not been determined as of yet, sources in Dubai claim.
