Measures underway to arrest MP Chaminda Wijesiri over assault of PNB officer

Measures are underway to arrest UNP Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri over the assault of a Police Narcotics Bureau official on January 10.

A special team has been deployed for this purpose, a senior police spokesman attached to the Bandarawela police divison said.

Police personnel have also commenced a search to locate and arrest another suspect who is reported to have been involved in the incident. 

Meanwhile, the driver of the Parliamentarian who was arrested over allegedly involving in the assault has been remanded until February 18.

Bandarawela police have informed Speaker Karu Jaysuriya that they would arrest MP Wijesiri over the incident.
