Schools in the North closed on Monday in lieu of Thaipongal festival

All schools in the North will be closed on Monday in lieu of the Thaipongal festival, the Northern Province Governor's office announced today (Jan 11).

This was announced following a meeting that had taken place between the Governor of the Northern Province Dr. Suren Ragahavan, the Education Secretary of the Northern Province and other relevant officials today (Jan 11).

Accordingly, it had been decided at the meeting to declare the day before the festival as a holiday while Monday's school session will be covered on another public holiday.
