UNP parliamentarian SM Marikkar has called for a bill with the necessary laws and regulatory measures in order to arrest those involved in sharing false content using fake social media accounts.

MP Marikkar, while addressing Parliament today (Jan 10) had pointed out that the rate of false content being shared on social media platforms was on the rise while rascist content was also being spread in the same manner.

Accordingly, Minister of Digital Infrastructure Ajith Perera had said that individuals involved in such acts could be tracked down and arrested.

He added that necessary measures would be taken to draft a bill to arrest such individuals.
