President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya passes away

President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has passed away at the age of 74. He had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo for a prolonged illness when he passed away. 

A well-known senior criminal lawyer, Mr Warnakulasuriya also served as Sri Lanka's Ambassador to several countries. He also served a stint at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), to which he was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena in August, 2016. 

His funeral is due to be held at the Borella Cemetery on Saturday (14).
