Golf: Sisira and Chalitha take slim lead at Pin Fernando GP

8 November 2017 - 14   - 0

In the penultimate Cat Solar Pin Fernando Grand Prix for 2017, shooting 3 under par 68 in tough wet and muddy conditions at the Royal Colombo Golf Course, Sisira Kumara and Chalitha Pushpika, finalist and semi-finalist respectively in the recently concluded 130th Amateur Championship of Sri Lanka, continued to show their form.

Scoring well in rainy weather is never easy but the overall standard of golf has improved tremendously with little to choose from the top ten in the field.

The current top ranked B.A. Sanjeewa, who just returned after a successful sojourn in New Zealand being the only Sri Lankan in a 3-man contingent to make the cut in the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship and finish a credible 53rd out of the best amateurs in Asia, could just about make it into the top 10 with a 2 over par 73.

However, with 3 more rounds to go it’s anybody’s game over the next three days, with past champion M. Amarapadma 1 stroke behind lurking in third place
