Kerala Ganja worth Rs.20 million seized from Wattala

Officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) have seized a massive haul of Kerala Ganja with an estimated value of Rs 20 million from Wattala and arrested two suspects. 

Police Media Unit said the PNB carried out a raid on Monday based on a tip off and apprehended the two suspects who were allegedly transporting the drugs in a van. 

The Kerala Ganja was found in 65 parcels packed into seven boxes. The drugs weighed 137.228 kilograms. The arrested suspects are a 56-year-old resident of Talaimannar .and a 35-year-old resident of Kolonnawa. They had however, been residing temporarily at addresses in Negombo and Colombo 09.

Investigators have established that the drugs had been transported from Kilinochchi. Investigations are underway to arrest others who are part of this drug smuggling ring, police added.
