Royal BC beat Shakthi BC Hendale by 11 runs to 7 runs to bag the John H. Reid Trophy at the 'Big League' 96 under 20 baseball final played at Police Park.

In the semi finals, Royal BC beat Pradeepa BC, Hendale by 17 runs to 4 and Shakthi BC beat Ananda College by 4 runs to 3.

Asitha Kelum of the Hendale Club was picked as the best fielder while Royal BC's Yasaswin Hewage and Prageeth Weerasinghe was awarded the best batter and best pitcher.

The Mercantile A division limited overs cricket tournament which is already in progress with ten teams battling it out for supremacy. This tournament is sponsored by Singers.

The sponsorship cheque for this tourney is being handed over to the President of the MCA, Sunil Abeyratne by Gamini Abeysuriya, watched by Jaliya Jayasuriya, and B. Fernando.

S. Thomas' emerged under 19 boys hockey champions in the Colombo District Tournament defeating Ananda by 2 goals to 1 at the Astro Turf.

The champion team has played together from the under 15 stage.

The champion Thomian team is

G. M. Samaratunga, T. N. Islah, Iresh Galgepitiya, Sami Akbar, R. R. Hapuarachchi, S. D. Ponniah, D. C. Tharariya, P. Pradeepan, B. Thananjean, J. V. Wickremesinghe.

In the girls under 19 finals, Visakha beat Museaus and in the under 17 final, Nalanda beat St. Benedicts.
