Power cut blamed for deaths of father-son duo at railway crossing and house blaze
View(s):A father and son were killed when their motorcycle collided with a train at the Balapitiya-Wellawatte railway crossing last morning.
Villagers said that when the accident occurred the signal lights were not functioning due to a power cut.
Meanwhile, a woman who lived in the vicinity and had rushed to the scene of the accident returned home only to find it severely damaged by a fire. A power cut had been on when she left the house and she had kept an electrical coil on. However the power had returned while she was away and the coil had burnt out causing the fire.
