Parliament staff also taking precuations
View(s):With the public protests on the rise against government members of parliament some have already taken precautionary action such as moving out from their houses and stepping up security.
Now Parliamentary staff too have been forced to take security precautions fearing that the anger would turn against them.
Buses transporting parliamentary staff will now operate without displaying the large sticker that prominently displayed the word “Parliament” and the mace as its emblem.
Instead, a smaller sticker has been introduced.
Meanwhile MPs continue to face protests by the public. One such incident was reported yesterday from Matara where MP Nipuna Ranawaka, nephew of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday was booed by villages in Urubokka.
Many of the members have already cancelled their public engagements. Among them were several new year celebrations which had been organised before the public protests started.
